In our thousands of interactions, one request keeps coming up: the ability to redirect any link.
What is a Link Redirect, and how does it work?
A link’s target is changed when it is redirected.
If you have a link, such as Epsi.link , that leads to a blog post you published in September, you can alter it to point to a new blog post you published in October.
Anyone who visits the original short link will now be redirected to the new blog post.
Epsi allows users to redirect any URL or QR code. This means that for each short link within Epsi you can alter the target URL (the page a visitor sees after clicking on the link). This covers links established using a custom domain and “epsi.link” links.
Why Would You Redirect a Link?
A target error must be corrected.
When shortening a link, you could accidentally paste in the erroneous URL. Rather than generating a new link, you can just edit the target URL of the existing one. For example, let’s imagine you made a link to a FAQs page but really wanted it to go to your About Us page. To make matters worse, you’ve already sent the URL to customers via email.
Rather than sending a fresh email with a new link, you can redirect the existing link to the correct location. If your website changes, for example, yoursite.com/aboutus becomes yoursite.com/main/aboutus, this is also useful. Updating the target will ensure that your visitors are directed to the most current page at all times.
Replace the target with a new one.
There are a variety of reasons why you would want to change a link’s destination over time. Every few months, for example, you could wish to change the destination of a QR Code to refer to a new seasonal deal. Change the destination, but maintain the QR Code and the related short link.
Many of our customers utilize Epsi links in their social media and digital marketing, and they track link and visitor information using UTM parameters. If the parameters associated with a link ever need to be changed, you can do so without modifying the short link you’ve previously shared.
Expire obsolete links manually
We’re constantly striving to keep each Epsi link you make active. You can manually change the destination of a link you generated if it is no longer valid for you—for example, if you’re running a limited-time promotion. After all, some hyperlinks are only intended to be live for a limited time. After that period has gone, you can modify the link’s destination.
To promote an upcoming event, for example, you could include a Epsi link in printed poster. After the event, instead of redirecting that short link to the event registration page, you can redirect it to your homepage or other page you like.
View the history of link configurations
We maintain note of the former destination URL and the clicks linked with it every time you redirect a link. This means you’ll be able to see when the various destinations for a Epsi link were active, as well as the clicks linked with previous destinations.
